Why do these cramps appear?

The causes are multiple and sometimes difficult to identify. Here are the most common:
- Age
Over time, muscles lose flexibility, which increases the risk of cramps. - Pregnancy
Hormonal and circulatory changes make pregnant women more prone to these discomforts. - Intense physical activity
Unusual or excessive muscular effort can cause cramps, especially if the muscles are not well stretched before and after. - Certain diseases
Diabetes, kidney failure or circulatory problems can promote their appearance. - Electrolyte imbalances
A lack of magnesium, potassium or calcium disrupts proper muscle function. - Dehydration
Drinking too little reduces the fluidity of exchanges in the body and increases the risk of cramps. - Certain medications
Certain treatments (diuretics, statins, etc.) can promote these involuntary contractions.
