Vanilla cake with chocolate filling

1. Preparing the cake:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (gas mark 6).

  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with the sugar until creamy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well between each addition.

  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. Sift the flour with the baking powder and gradually add them to the mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until you get a smooth, even dough.

2. Cooking:

  1. Pour the batter into a buttered and floured cake tin (approximately 22 cm in diameter).

  2. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Check the doneness with the tip of a knife: it should come out dry.

  3. Allow to cool completely before unmolding.
