What causes these black spots? Most often, it’s high humidity. Moisture accumulates in poorly ventilated rooms: bathrooms, kitchens, or bedrooms without ventilation.
When humid air meets cold walls, condensation forms—an ideal breeding ground for mold.
It can also come from external leaks (for example, a damaged roof or gutter) or moisture rising from the foundations. Poor thermal insulation also plays a role: it creates cold zones where moisture deposits more easily.
Another often overlooked point is furniture arrangement. If cabinets or sofas are placed against the walls, air cannot circulate behind them, and mold can develop.
If you see a dark stain, act immediately. Ventilate regularly morning and evening, even in winter. This helps reduce humidity levels.
