Don’t leave the fan running all night: the health risks are greater than they seem

The right steps to take for a cool, hassle-free sleep

Use a fan, yes, but with moderation and common sense! Here are three golden rules to apply starting tonight:

  • Always air out your room before turning on the light  : fresh air means healthier air. A little breeze at the end of the day, and hey presto, you’ll breathe better all night long.
  • Avoid direct contact  : Never place the device too close to your body. A position high up or halfway up the room allows for a softer, more even diffusion.
  • Choose a fan with a built-in timer : ideal for falling asleep cool without risking side effects all night long. Some models even offer “light breeze”  modes   for a more natural feel.

So, should we ban fans from our summer bedrooms?

Not at all! As is often the case, it’s all a question of balance and proper use. A little caution, a pinch of common sense, and your fan will once again become a valuable ally for  better coping with hot nights … without compromising your well-being.
