Ingredients needed:
* 1.2 kg potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
* 500 g of minced beef
* 2 medium onions, sliced
* 3 crushed garlic cloves
* 30 cl of whole fresh cream
* 20 cl of milk
* 150 g of grated cheese (Gruyère or Comté)
* 2 tablespoons of olive oil
* 1 teaspoon of salt
* ½ teaspoon black pepper
* 1 teaspoon of dried or fresh thyme
* 1 pinch of nutmeg
Start by preparing the meat filling. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onions until translucent. Add the crushed garlic and cook for another minute to release the flavors. Stir in the ground beef, breaking it up with a wooden spoon to avoid large lumps. Season with salt, pepper, and thyme, then cook until the meat is evenly browned. Remove from heat and set aside.
