Life, at its core, has always been all about kindness. A warm smile when we feel like our world has shattered into a million pieces, a helping hand when we feel like there is no way out, a word of comfort in a moment of doubt — these things, thought they may seem small, have the power to change someone’s world forever and leave a lasting impact.

At around 5 o’clock, I noticed my elderly neighbor who lives a couple of blocks away, Miss Inez. She was moving slowly using her rollator. On both sides of the handles, two big grocery bags were swaying. One of them contained canned foods and a loaf of bread, and in the other one there was something warm wrapped in a towel.

I approached her and asked her if she needed help. Miss Inez looked at me and said, “Well, I am just bringing some warm food to the Mitchell boy. His mom’s unwell, and he’s been by himself the past three nights.”
